I downloaded the latest version of the software and installed in on a Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit operating system and created an ISCSI target and attached a virtual hard disk device. I then created a VM in HyperV. The VM is also running Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit. All firewalls are disabled. I then use the iSCSI Initiator to connect to the iSCSI target on the host machine. I then go to disk management and put the drive online and initialize it. However, when I try to format it NTFS (quick format), the formatting fails.

I have attached the server logs.

Dear timbilt,

Also, would you be so kin to provide us with more information about your environment:
-What StarWind type of device are you using (Image File, HA, CDP, DD. etc)?
-How and what is connected to this device?
-What storage are you using to store StarWind image files?
-Can we see your detailed network diagram?
-Where is the issued VM stored? On StrarWind drive?
-Have you got any AV software running on the hosts?
-What allocation unit sizes are you using on your storages and in your OS-es?

May I also ask you to change logging level to third, reproduce the issue and send those logs to support@starwindsoftware.com (probably you will need to compress them and to upload them to some file share).
To switch logging level you need to have at least 50 Gigs of free space on your C:\ drive (on the drive where the StarWind is installed),open starwind.cfg file and change <LogLevel value="1"/> to <LogLevel value="3"/> and restart the starwind service. After you will reproduce the issue switch the logging level back to first one.
Best regards,
