Hi All,

I'm a new user of the Starwind SMI-S provider having recently got an eval licence from Starwind for my testing of SCVMM(thank you!).

I am facing some issues using the storage though :(

I have followed the instructions to install the client but when I attempt to add the storage to my VMM console it always states that the 'Total Capacity' available is '0'.

I have also found that other people have had the same issue but their workaround does not work for me - as this step is mentioned in the doc I've followed http://www.ms4u.info/2012/08/total-capa ... dding.html

Has anybody else experienced and overcome this issue?

Cheers,

Aha,....just got it.

I re-ran the 'configuratorconsole.exe' and set the Device Type to 'Image File' and my storage was then found successfully.

Just for clarification:-
  • What "device type" options are there?
What is the impact of changing these?
Cheers,

B

Hi and welcome on board :)
What "device type" options are there?
What is the impact of changing these?
Currently (the SMI-S is still on beta stage as you may know) our product can work with Basic Image files, so it`s better to run only this device type, otherwise you may run into issues.
