I asked this same question in a thread what was sort of mixed up with StarWind clustering versus Windows clustering so I'll break it out into a separate question. I'm trying to understand what is actually being asked when you see the attached screenshot?
10.14.31.x is the LAN
192.168.1.2 and 192.168.2.2 is the network dedicated to the SAN - typically the network over which MPIO would be used
(This is all lab work BTW)
I think I know what Sync is - the network over which the mirroring traffic will travel? Ditto heartbeat - the network over which the "Are you still there" heartbeat tests are carried out? Is my understanding correct here?
So in my lab, I'd probably put the heartbeat across 10.14.31.0 and the sync over the two 192.168.1.0 & 192.168.2.0 networks.
However, if I check "Heartbeat only" against 10.14.31.0 and "Sync" AGAISNT BOTH 192.168.1.0 AND 192.168.2.0 and click Next it reports:
Select "Networks for Synchronisation Channels"
I end up having to check some other combination but to be honest, haven't a clue what I'm doing. As pointed out before, the video to help you set this up has a different interface that has only two options so that doesn't really help.
I ended up using 10.14.31.0 for heartbeat and 192.168.1.0 & 192.168.2.0 for "Sync and heartbeat" and left "Sync" unchecked but I have a clue what I'm actually setting up here.
Cheers, Rob.
