I've just downloaded Starwind v8.0, hoping to convert a .vhd file to a .vmdk file. The .vhd file was created using Microsoft's disk2vhd utility only a few days ago. But Starwind rejects the file with the following message:
Invalid file format (11)[2]
No "conectix" cookie present
Can anything be done about this?
Many thanks
Mike

Can I ask you to share the vhd file that you`ve used somehow, so we could test it in our lab?

Thanks for your response. I'm afraid it's not possible for me to upload the file, as it is almost 1Gbyte in size, and my internet connection has an upload speed of 0.38MB/sec ... that's what it's like in rural Norfolk (UK)!
I can now add that another piece of software - Winimage - has successfully converted the file, and I can only emphasise that it was created just a few days ago using Microsoft's disk2vhd tool, so I can't see why there should be anything wrong with it.
I guess I could hack off the first few bytes and send those if that was any help, as I seem to recall reading somewhere that the mysterious "conectix" cookie is at the start of the file - but maybe that's not the case.
Best wishes
Mike

That shoudl do the job, but hey, with that speed it should be uploaded for 1 hour (just clean calculation here), so why don`t you just try to leave it uploading for the night?

I noticed this thread was still open and I'm having a similar issue. I'd be happy to let you download the machine to test in your lab if this is still unresolved, cause I would love to get it working. Here's a screenshot of my issue:
