Hello,
I'm trying to convert my VMWare Server 2016 server to HV and it keeps failing. I'm at a bit of a loss I don't really understand why I've done this many times.
From the HV machine I run the converter and vCenter starts it's snapshot. The snapshot goes to 66% and then jumps to 100% and errors with a failed to quiesce the virtual machine.
I'm thinking to myself (it's never happened before) that the virtual machine but I cannot shut off the VM. So I'm thinking that I am going to copy the contents of the virtual machine and try to convert them to vhdx when they are offline but no matter what I do whether it's from winscp / datastore browser from vCenter or from the host I cannot copy the vmdk.flat file. Every file copies correctly except for the flats and the flats are the actual hard disk files as far as I can tell they are huge.
Can anyone help me out I don't really know what to do, how can I convert a live VM to HV without it erroring out?
Thanks!

Hello!
Thanks for the reply.
The current server is running under a VMWare environment and we are moving towards a Hyper-V environment. We want to simply convert the ESX machine to a Hyper-V machine so we can make the upgrades accordingly when we are ready.
Unfortunately, every time we try to convert it it fails.
The log posts the following as errors
12/12 2:13:24.202 9c0 Facility ???WARNING: WrapperESXI::disconnect: m_proxy->Logout fail - 12
12/12 2:13:24.202 9c0 Facility ???ERROR: getErrorFromSOAP: soap_sprint_fault - SOAP 1.1 fault "":ServerFaultCode [no subcode]
I am unsure this is an issue of the VM being open because I have already converted VMs in their running state I'm unsure what the issue is here.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try shutting down the VM and converting the disk.
You can also copy the VM disk to the Hyper-V server (i.e., destination) and convert it as a local file.

I'm trying to do exactly that. I cannot copy the file it fails no matter what I do. The VMDK-flat file (the gigantic file) always fails. No matter what I do no matter what tool I use fails
Every other file works except for the flat files

Sure I can report the error shortly. But starwind software fails during conversion because it takes a snapshot and then for whatever reason the error is "failed to quiesce the virtual machine"

Greetings,
Could you do conversion of the VHDX locally? If the file copying itself fails. the same thing might be not letting conversion happen.
