Hi, I'm testing vSAN FREE Proxmox KVM image and struggling to find any recent documentation on:
- Deduplication
- ZFS implementation
- Optimizations for iSCSI and/or NFS

Reddit for example links to a best practices document written in 2019 - where vSAN had Structured Log caching (for some reason it was disabled/removed from latest version; a shame because that feature I wanted to use). https://www.starwindsoftware.com/best-p ... practices/

I'm trying to use vSAN Free to host my proxmox virtual machines. There is no documentation in the knowledge base about how vSAN does deduplication or where to enable it, I have checked the web interface and there is no settings (using Trial license so I expect to see all features with it).

[*] https://www.starwindsoftware.com/best-practices/?s=zfs

It seems clear to me that ZFS inline deduplication is not enabled by default by output of this command. The volume too.

Greetings,

You can use StarWind storage as NFS share or iSCSI-connected storage. See the script for the replicated iSCSI target viewtopic.php?f=5&t=6852&p=37208&hilit=HINT8#p37208
You are right, there's still no deduplication there; it is on the roadmap.
p.s. Thanks for your feedback!
