All,

Like many of you I am caught in the VMware debacle. I have a small environment but am struggling to convert even 1 machine.

I have been running VMware Workstation, since version 1 actually, and at present I am running 17.5.2. I have maybe
a dozen vm's on this box, and maybe a dozen spread out on some ESXi hosts. All I want to do is run a test to convert any 1 of
these machines. All of them are thin provisioned using split disks.

I ran the v2v against one of the local vmdk's and it seemed to work, which is a first among the different methods I have tried.
Kudos for that. What special things must I do since this is a multi split disk machine? Run against each vmdk? It is not clear to me how
to end up with a complete vm. I am converting to qcow2 which I believe is what Proxmox uses. I tried to go directly to the Proxmox server
but it fails to connect. Perhaps because 2FA is enabled, or perhaps because it is not yet licensed. For this test a local file will work since I can
test running it with qemu,

Thanks for any tips.

Hi,
Welcome to StarWind Forum.
You can convert only a disk in the current build.
As a workaround, you could do a batch script that will convert multiple disks.
For scripting, you can use the following parameter for CLI to run the commands for Proxmox.
out_file_type=ft_qcow2

Also, for GUI, you can run multiple instances of V2V converter, converting multiple VMs in the next builds

I had the same problem. How did you solve it?

Still on the to-do list of the dev team.
