Hello

I have two Dell servers with Windows Server 2016 and I'd like to deploy StarWind HCI Appliance on them to test it and check if it would be a good replacement for our old VxRail cluster.

I signed up for trial version and received email with StarWind Virtual HCI Appliance 30-Day Trial license key and Hyper-V scripts.

According to the email, I should follow steps from https://www.starwindsoftware.com/resour ... r-hyper-v/ to build HCI environment.

My Dell servers are running on Windows Server 2016 and currently I'm stuck on "Install Windows" section of https://www.starwindsoftware.com/resour ... r-hyper-v/

1. Do I need to reinstall these servers with ISO images I downloaded with StarWind Folders.ps1 ? Or can I use the existing Windows Server 2016 installed already on these servers?

2. If I need to reinstall, can I use Windows Server 2016 instead of 2019/2022? I have only Windows Server 2016 OEM license and StarWind Folders.ps1 script does not download 2016 ISO image

3. If I do not need reinstall, what steps should I follow? What script should I run? I tried running "PostInstall.ps1" and "ConfigurationScript.ps1" but they fail with several errors.

Does it mean that Windows 2016 is not supported? Or I need to make reinstall using ISO images downloaded by "StarWind Folders.ps1" script.

Thanks!

Use the existing Windows Server installation.

You do not need scripts to set up the StarWind VSAN TRIAL cluster. You can count on our tech team while trialing. Please reach out to the person who provided you with the key for more assistance.
